Epic Running Trips
Come join us for an epic running trip. For our epic running trips we recommend that you have the stamina to be out for 4-6 hours. Expect anywhere from 15-20 miles of spectacular trail running. Rest assured, your k-9 friend is welcome on any trail run. After your epic day of running trip, Moab Trail Running Adventures will treat you to lunch at a local favorite restaurant.
The trails in Moab range from easy to extremely technical. Our epic running trips will surely test your stamina and feet. The climbs out of canyons can be very steep with rocky or sandy terrain. Many trails run along cliff ledges and can be somewhat narrow. You set the pace, we will go as slow, or as fast, as you wish. While running, our guides can give you an overview of the geological history of the trail you are running. Some of our trails have dinosaur tracks. The colors of the different types of sandstone vary from red, orange, green, purple, and gold. Depending on what time you chose to run, the colors of the sandstone highlighted by the sun will dazzle your eyes like that of a Tom Till photograph.
Epic RUNNING TOURS
All epic running tours include: Knowledgeable guide, hand bottles or hydration pack, shuttle to trail-head , gels, Heed, electrolyte capsules, and back to town meeting point, and lunch at a local’s favorite restaurant.
Cost Per Guest: $160
Golden Spike: 14-20 miles
Only for the most adventurous of adventure runners. This running tour is on the course of the ever so popular race, Moab’s Red Hot 33k. The Golden Spike trail is on a geological uplift caused by the Moab Fault down in the valley below. This running tour is challenging for any trail runner because of this uplifted slickrock terrain. It’s easy to get off course on Golden Spike because of the minimal trail markings, but our trail running guides are experienced in route finding their way across the Gold Bar/Golden Spike Rim. There are two options in mileage on this running tour there is a 14 mile or a 20 mile option. The 14 mile running tour stays up high along the rim and comes down the Portal Trail or your running guide can guide you along Moab’s Red Hot race course ending at the Poison Spider trail head. Both running tour options are amazing with breathtaking views!
MAG 7: 17 miles (we offer a shorter option)
A combination of trail systems that links us across a plateau full of pinion pines and juniper trees, MAG 7 is the perfect challenging run. Guests will traverse a sandstone uplift known as the Portal. We will see Jeep Arch located above Culvert Canyon with the Moab Valley below.
Hurrah Loop: 23 miles
One of our favorite runs when we are training for an ultra marathon. When I was a newbie to the ultra distance this was my favorite long run. It is mostly on a scenic dirt road that travels through wide red canyon valleys. Many locations along this point contain ancient art rock that was left behind by the First People who lived in the Moab area. There are two major climbs along this route, one with a 600ft ascent in a ¼ mile, but the climb up rewards guests with an amazing view of the Colorado River & Canyonlands National Park.
