Hello Amasa Runners!
This years event has officially sold-out on its 3rd annual event! There will be 100 runners so the field will be much more competitive. There will be a pre-race bib# pick-up Friday the 13th from 4-6pm, at Gearheads Outdoor Store, located at 471 S Main St Ste 1 by City Market grocery store. You will be able to pick-up your bib#, shirt, and have any questions answered.
This year I have hired a timing company to record your times, which will be periodically posted during the event. If you forget anything back at home associated with outdoors you will also be able to purchase gear at Gearheads. Gearheads have a great selection of outdoor gear: hydration systems, gels, .99 cent Cliff Bars, trail shoes, clothing, free filtered water etc.. Lets support our local sponsors.
Day of race there will be early check-in for those who could not make Friday’s. I do ask those who can’t be at Friday’s to be at the Kane Creek trailhead at 7am to check-in, the race starts at 8am. There are directions to Kane Creek TH on the Amasa page of the website. I will have a water/Heed station set up at the starting line for those who may need to fill up their packs/water bottles. The aid station will also have water/Heed plus limited gels but I do encourage you to carry your own. Our aid station is manned by Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’ please give thanks to them. If it weren’t for this club all my events couldn’t happen because of the extreme terrain I choose to have my races.
We will hold the awards ceremony when most of the runners have finished the course. There are some great prizes this year too, and all runners will get a finishing medal. So I hope all of you can stick around after you are done with your race. For those who have never been to Moab you have picked a great race to introduce yourselves to Moab trail running. Amasa Back is my favorite trail in Moab, I even named my dog Amasa! This trail takes you on some of the most rugged trail Moab has, the scenery is beautiful with 700ft cliffs you will be running along. I hope you enjoy this trail as much as I have over the years. Thanks for your support and I will see you next weekend!
If you want to experience more backcountry trail running and you have limited time on your vacation. I offer guided trail running tours at 360 Moab Adventures, we run at your pace. So if you have limited time and can not decide on where you want to spend your time running, let us help with making the right choice of trail to run. Remember this where ever you choose to run “…you can’t get lost on an adventure…” Nemi Talli (my son).
