Moab’s Red Hot 55K & 33K
February 18th 2012
Presidents Day Weekend
Each event hosted by GrassRoots Events is inspired and influenced by an experience(s) in my life. The Red Hot is no different. A few winters back, I was running Steel Bender with Ian Torrence, an accomplished ultra runner and great friend. Throughout the run I found myself captivated by snow-covered sandstone spires. It was a sunny winter day and with the sun’s rays striking the snow-covered spires I immediately thought of hot embers glowing. This wintery run eventually became the inspiration for the Red Hot. I immediately envisioned a steady stream of runners experiencing the awe-inspiring views Ian and I had just exprienced. When designing the Red Hot, I wanted to ensure the event would be one that pulled runners back year after year. I also wanted the race to be fun, one in which runners brought friends and family with them. With 2012 being the 5th annual Red Hot, I think it’s safe to say the race has exceeded all of my expectations and I hope it has the same effect for you, the runner.
