This one of a kind North Rim Of The Grand Canyon Marathon & Half-Marathon course splits its time between smooth, well-graded forest service roads and some of the Arizona Trail’s easiest, softest, and most pleasant running tread. The half marathon loop (13.1-mile) course crosses through an enchanting area of northern Arizona, passing through an idyllic forest of spruce, pine, and aspen, past shallow ponds, springs, and in and out of limestone canyons. For about a mile, the course dodges among stately trees along the East Rim of the Grand Canyon, offering breathtaking views of Marble Canyon to the east, the Vermilion Cliffs to the north, the Saddle Mountain Wilderness, House Rock Valley, and Navajo Mountain on the Navajo Indian Reservation. Half-marathon participants run one loop while marathoners test their endurance with two loops. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon Marathon & Half Marathon is the perfect destination race for an individual or the family get away. GRE has created a festive camping experience. The Tator Tot 10K completes an out and back along the marathon/half-marathon route’s final miles and passes along the Tator Canyon valley floor. Incredibly scenic and surprisingly hilly. This distance is perfect for those who may not be quite ready for the marathon distances. The 10k distance allows you to join in the fun with your friends and family and just might convince you to train for your first 1/2 or full marathon!
